I had a valve spring fail which in turn shot the valve a little too far in to the cylinder, causing a little bit of damage to the face of the piston.

It doesn't look too bad to me. The damage is not very deep.

Would I be okay to continue to run this piston, or should it be replaced?

The second picture shows some very fine scoring in the barrel. Again, much to worry about?

i think as a minimun i would take that barrel off and clean the aluminium swarf out and clean the rings and barrel faces

Thanks chaps. Will whip the barrel off and give it a good seeing to!

Nobody seems worried about the damage on the face weakening the piston, which is really good news and should save me a few quid!

Decoked, emery clothed, barrel off and cleaned out.
All looks good now!
Once it is coked over again I doubt you'll even see it :p
