Seems that my 71 camper will run fine for a few miles after tune up but then loses tick over stalling every time I take my foot off the accelarator, starts to run very rough and won't pull except at high revs. This is the second time it's happened after a long run. Ignition dwell and timing seem fine but the carb (Solex 34 PICT 3) seems to be shot - I can feel movement on the throttle valve shaft, some fuel seepage from the pivot and testing for air leaks with butane gas makes the engine revs rise. Could the carb be the problem and if so, what's the best way to go: Kafer, Bocar or a rebuild - if a rebuild can anyone suggest who would do it professionally? Thanks.

A rebuilt original would be the best bet, no reason why you cant do it yourself - theres a couple of guys that replaced the bushes on here recently I beleive hey are available off a guy on ebay ;)

I fitted the new bushes to mine and it wasn't too hard. Only problem now is that I can't tune carbs... I know how to, but I can't hear when it is 'right'.

It isn't 'right' at the minute
