nice engine GeoffP. just wondered, have you braced above the gearbox? and how have you modded the tinwear to fit. i'm currently fitting a 3L into a 72 so i have the brace bar, but having trouble thinking how best to mod the tinwear i have.

streetboy, what bus are you putting it in.

-if you have a 72 then you have an extra bracing point - above the gearbox bell housing. if you have earlier then you dont. i would advise you to put one in.
-the second issue you have, is mounting the oil tank as the engines are dry sump. the general consensus is to fit the oil tank where the battery tray was originally situated and move the battery onto the platform tray opposite. if you also run a leisure battery you may need to rethink where you put it.
-you may want to run an external oil cooler in addition to the engine mounted oil cooler, which you will have to find a position for. i'm putting mine underneath.
-if you are running a Fuel injection engine you will either need to get a fuel injection fuel tank, or put a return line into the original tank. you can buy the tanks from FBIVw and the like for about £80
-if FI engine you need to mount the electronic box somehwere
- Fuel pump, accumalator and filter will need mounting.
- wiring will need to be modified for engine - more wiring i presume is needed for the FI engine.
- is you are putting the engine in a 72 model then you have a fixed valance not a removable making it tight
- putting a big engine will need the gearbox to be rebuilt
- advise you to put an inspection hatch into the bus if you ever want/need to work on the engine - servicing and tuning etc.
- need more gauges on your dash for sensors and senders like oil level and pressure etc

sorry thats a bit of a brain dump of what i have come across so far :)

apart from that it is pretty much 4 bolts.
