Hi, hope someone can help with this snag of mine....Our 72 crossover has a 1641 with s/s header into quiet pack, which as all been fine and dandy. It has also has a weber progressive carb, which i now know is not the nations favourite...Any way, after initial rolling road and re jetting it has been exccellent and behaved well apart from the clock spring choke fault..do they all get that hot? My problem is i have noticed that at full flooring of the pedal i am not getting full operation of my second choke. I have fitted the kit from Heritage which does increase the opening of the choke but still not enough. I have repositioned the cable on different positions on the linkage, some improve but usually compromising the tickover return. It has been suggested that i relocate the cable tube in the air box higher to lessen the cables angle.Any advice would be much appreciated.

You could give "froggy" a shout for some info, he has a webber prog in his bus that is running sweet

To overcome teh angle issue i welded a short extension to the throttle end
but then you reduce even further the choke opening, So to compensate I welded
another extension at the throttle pedal linkage end. At present second choke opens
half-way so still some work to do for me.

Neatest solution I saw was on VZi when some guy had made a kind of pulley
system that addressed the angle and opening in one hit. Lots of posts on the Progressive
on there.

I think the bad press is more to do with the linkage than it being a poor carb.

Cheers

James

Like a challenge. Pulley rig of some sort sounds good. Thanks James.

I've got the weber progressive too.I found on mine my second choke wasn't even moving. My front pedal linkage was worn out.So I repaired the linkage so it was not flopping around. But I also made a longer rod which runs from the pedal down to the linkage with a bit of cutting and welding.I can now get near enough full throttle. And also it gets full throttle before it hits the floor,so I put a stop under the pedal. This gives a much more comfortable driving position as I always got a sore ankle holding the pedal flat to the floor for lengths at a time.

Thanks, i will have a look next week, be it rod or pulley!
