I'm on the market for some bits of after-market tinware, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of different quality parts from different suppliers?

Thanks

Mark

Im interested in this as well as im in need of some too. I've been told vw heritage and avoid jk by a friend as jk just don't seem to fit exactly as they should . Any other thoughts ?

I'm fairly sure they all sell the same *****.

Get your original stuff repainted or powdercoated - it'll be loads better ;)

Don't forget to make sure you have all the little fiddly bits which don't come with the repro kits. :)

Genuine german tin is best, not mexican/brazillian or repro
Take the cylinder shrouds for example genuine ones have a deflector plate inside them to direct air over the barrels, the repro tin does not!

The fit of repro tin leaves a lot to be desired and it seems thinner steel.

Find some genuine tin,a lot of it has the vw roundel stamped on,have it blasted and painted/powder coated and it will last for years and do the job its designed to do.

Shop around and get bits here and there and you can soon amass a genuine set. I've been buying bits through eBay and a few bit at dubfreeze this weekend.

Lastly my local powder coaters charge £40 for a total strip and powder coat of the tinware. Bargain!

Regards

Mike
