I have just fitted a new cd player in my bay as the last broke. The last one didn't have a specified connection for memory (although i suppose it was in with another), this unit has a memory wire though.

Where would i take the live for the memory from? I have the main live coming from the cigarette lighter.

Dean,

you should have 2 power wires from the stereo,a ignition feed live, (normally orange) and a perm live (yellow).

i guess the live you have connected is a ign live.

you can take the perm live from either the fusebox ( any red colour wire) or from the light sswitch or hazzard (red wire again).

try this. if you still loose the back up swap the (live feeds around) orange and yellow .This is normal to have to swap on some cars.

Thanks for that. I did split the lives. I have one from the cigarette lighter (perm live) and one from the interior light (memory).

Doing that way Dean u have 2 perm lives. so Radio will stay on with ign off.(watch u dont drain your batt) if u wanted it that way you only needed to join the 2 wires perm live and memory together(yellow and orange) and then find one live to feed them ie ciggy lighter.

Seems i may have cocked up a bit then. I thought having the perm live which i had originally on the old radio was ok as it didn't drain the battery.

The other memory wire was originally joined to the live but the memory didn't work now that i have put it on it's own live it seems fine.

I'll have a look tomorrow when i get in from work to see what the battery charge is like. I took a reading staright after i fitted it today so i have something to compare it to.

If it does drain do i have a switched live for the main feed and a perm live for the memory?

I assume the power needed for the memory will be minimal and therefore not drain the battery.
