I've got an ex panel van converted to a camper, I want to fit rear seat belts for the kids, but being an ex-panel van there are no factory fit seat belt mounts. Can you get mounts to simply weld in or is it a case of welding in a plate with a hole in or nut welded to it?

I have a full width rock n roll bed in the back, as looking at the JK rear inertia belts with extensions.....

Any advice greatly appreciated

Thanks

Jim

You can buy spreader plates with the correct size nut fitted to it. They can be located externally and bolted through ... technically you don't actually need to weld them in place in such positions.

Have a look at page 3 on my resto thread. Important to do this properly, they are YOUR kids!

Sticking some spreader plates on wont cut the mustard in an accident - I've seen some really shabby seat belt mounts in various bays on various forums :?

The lower mounts need to be bracketed through the fuel tank bay onto the chassis near the bump stops. The upper mounts need to be fabricated and welded in so that they become part of the structure between the 'C' and 'D' posts.
