Rear shocks for a 2 spline drop

Hi all,
After notching the spring plates and lowering to 2 splines , I'm changing the rear shock for gas items.
I rang GSF and they advised to fit beetle shocks, (they didnt say front or rears) , does this sound right ?

I left the original ones on my panel and its been lowered 2 splines rides fine,I did however buy some bugpack shocks to put on but the guy who lowered it said the originals were fine.
