sorry for all the noobie questions

our dormobile plastic bellows are a mouldy, rusty etc.

i know you can buy new bellows, but how easy are they to remove and put back on?

Easy-ish, much easier if there's two of you. Four screwed down alloy strips holding bellows to van roof, same holding bellows to fibreglass roof. Old bellows shrink over the years, can make it a bit of a stretch to get back on, but if you're getting a new one you'll have no issues.

WHS...yep, not too difficult. I've found if you prop the roof partly open then you can position the bellows correctly before screwing the holding trim back down, try to do it with the roof fully extended and you'll struggle as the bellows will be tought.
hth

Sorry to hijack this but am thinking of doing the same.Have heard that the screws to secure the strips back on tend to give up the ghost on extraction so can you buy these from anywhere(not fussed if they are original or steel etc)

they use pop rivets now at dormobile sealed 18 mm on fibreglass roof with a stainless steel washer either side and spreaders on the van roof speak to them they'll supply all you need.

Just replaced mine with a new set from the campershop in upton on severn, the roof had been removed by the restorer and all the screws around the outside of the bellows sheared off when trying to remove them.
Fitting the bellows to the raising roof is straightforward but then connecting them to the roof of the van is quite fiddly.
Its worth replacing them as it makes a massive difference to the van with the roof raised, the new bellows are a thicker material so not as draughty :D

Check out the VW Camper & Bus Special coming out at the VW Show Sandown, think there may be a feature coming

took my old bellows off. in the midlle of cleaning everything up in preparation of the new bellows arriving.

but i forgot to take pics. from memory the only aluminium strip that is accessable from inside the van is the one that runs allong the hinge side at the bottom. is that correct? can someone check?

er ya go this may help have posted some pics of the new bellows going on..........
