My wife's grandad was talking to me about the van and was saying he used to have a Beetle and there might be some old bits in his shed.. So went around and dug out this lot which he just gave to me..

He had another shed to go through too but we ran out if time, going to go back tomorrow see what else I can find

Piston rings, piston rod bearings, swing axle boot kit, flywheel oil seal and crank bearing

Oh and he also gave me these which where hanging up above 8)

found some shell oil ones like these a while back in a disused workshop at work then opened a cuboard to find a flask of plas gas oil ,half full :D

Its always good to find these things..

I had a look on ebay and found a identical Esso one that sold which was not quite as nice as this one sell for £30

Going to keep an eye out for more in future 8) I can't sell this one because who gave it to us (I'm silly like that) and also it looks like a good idea for putting oil in a aircooled engine instead of tipping everywhere like I usually do

**** hot. 8)
Amazing how many people will come over and just chat, reminiscing on (In my day!) saying I use to have this that!

A guy across the road pops over everytime he sees the van out and chats to me about the old Dubs he had over the years.
Last time I saw him he gave me a Genine MINT VW owners manual for a Fastback! 8)

Old Guys Rule!!! ;)

Whilst on the subject of finds, this is another one from last year

£3 at a car boot sale.. I liked it because it had a nice patina about it

Then much to my surprise I lift the can up and noticed the cap!

Turns out its a Splitty cap which was nice as my Split's fuel tank was always missing the original cap, it polished up great 8)

It also turned out to be a outboard fuel tank so you could connect a engine up to the tube on the top and use it as a portable fuel tank, probably from a boat? It also has a level :)

The last find of relevance I can mention was my Bro-in laws, he had a German friend and he gave him this.. its all in German, the artwork is amazing!

Toilet!!!

Racasan toilet, never used with chemical stuff still it's bottle inside, was in me Granda's garage since they bought the splitty in 1965.

We use it all the time now!

Those spiral bound brochures illustrated by Bernd Reuters are a class act. A bonus to get the price list as well!

Been back around my Wifes Grandads, didn't find anymore VW parts but he gave me a new box of grease tubes which I'm sure will come handy with Aircooled ownership :D
