Does anyone else on the forum have an early rhd westy that is non walkthrough?

I would appreciate some pictures of the double rear facing seat if at all possible. My interior has SO67R on the westy plate attached to the rear seat/bed if this helps????

Sounds like the RHD South African model. Essentially the buddy seat is a 'double' rather than the 'single' that comes in a LHD ...

(Ignore the red circle on the first pic - its just an image I found relating to something else)

Clem,
thanks for your reply and the pics too.
You are spot on with it being a South African import, it has taken me 5 months to get it registered at DVLA, they eventually accepted the VW birth cert from Germany as proof but only after sending a guy out to inspect the vehicle as well!!!!
The Westy has sat on my drive insured and MOT'd all that time...I totally missed out on driving/ using it during what decent weather we had...To be honest I was all set to give up on registering it.
The bus now has a rebuilt engine so now it's time to get to work on the tired looking interior and slightly warped pop top.
Cheers, Barry

Cool bus :)

Is the roof heat warped? I’ve not seen that before

Looks like it might have had a blow over on the top, like when a bonnet blows up and gets forced up too far. I reckon they could really catch the wind if it came from the wrong direction, even worserer if there was no canvas on.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Fixable though

Not really sure what has caused the warped pop top, I've not seen this on any other westies.

It's just the part you can see at the front that needs fettling but I'm not sure what will be involved until the pop top is removed. There is a canvas fitted but it looks to be homemade so maybe ozziedogs views about it lifting up could be right.

The other blue VW bus in the pic is a 1700cc 72 deluxe microbus, LHD and in original paint. I was amazed that the original owners book and all of the original seats / trims were still in it and in good condition too.I imported it last year from Missouri in the USA.It needs some repairs to the cab floor, a battery tray and sill repairs.I have a new front screen as the original has some big stone chips plus there's a full set of German quality new rubber seals.

Was going to get the 72 repainted and use the bus for weddings but it seems a shame to cover up the original paint, any thoughts?

Yeah, leave it :D

Nicely buffed and well presented inside a 'patina' bus is still a 'goer' for weddings, proms etc. The shabby chic flame is still burning brightly for the masses ;)
