Hi guys,
I have decided to have my engine re-built or buy a new one and have it made in to a 1776 or bigger. Has anyone used Richard Morena before? I had a good chat with him, he seems genuine and was very helpful.

Can anyone recommend him?

Thanks,

LV

Hi,
As I started off this thread, I'll make a final contribution. After researching the matter I opted to have a new engine build in California by Power Hause Vw. It's a 2100 cc unit with a Porsche fan shroud, flame thrower etc. I also had the Shroud painted to a colour of my choice. It took about a month for the guy to build it, I made a few alterations en route and you can basically specify what component and manufacture's parts you require to add etc.
I opted for a local air port (Bournemouth) it was professionally packed up on a pallet in a thick box and he showed me a clip on You tube too.
as it came under budget, I added a few extras such as the Porsche Fan shroud CPS rocker covers etc.

You will save a lot buying a motor this way, the down side is obvious - you can't send it back if it goes belly up, but I had a positive vibe from them over there. They are not doing this in their spare time in a shed or garage after work.

The builder is a very easy going American chap who kept me continually in the loop, and was very helpful in explaining the difference between various carb manufacturers etc. His workshop has about 5/6 builds at any one time. He does not try and sell you anything and is not a bull *******. He also welds up the Carb linkages as well. I'll throw some pictures up later.

hope this helps?
