Not used those ones but anything better than some of the stuff served up by the mainstream retailers should be a bonus. I got myself three or four sets of Victor Reinz gaskets from VW Ed years ago before he passed on. One set went off with my motor that I’d totalled a few years back, one set is on this motor I have now, and I have one set in reserve for when these won’t seal. I had all sorts of valve problems with this new motor so the stock gaskets only lasted two or three times being removed, then I put the Victors on and they’ve been on and off at least twenty times and possibly more. Once I sorted the valve issues, I used bolt down rocker covers with the Victors held in with blue hylomar and a swipe of grease every time I have them off and I’m still using the same pair now but I have a spare set.See these rocker cover gaskets on eBay they look a little thicker in size than the usual standard 4mm ones at 5mm anyone used them?
Nice one glad to hear it I’ve ordered a set and will fit them as soon as I can mateI use the thick ones. They are great. No leaks.
I had a set of Wolfsburg west ones couple years back they looked really good but I couldn’t stop them from leaking I’ll have to try using the blue hylomar most people use on the covers I reckonI've had a silicone pair on for years. Hylomared to the alloy (truhaft) covers, with a smear of grease on the mating surface. Job done.![]()
I think part of the blue hylomar thing is letting them sit while you do your clearances etc. I did the blue thing with the gasket and then bolted them up for ten minutes / cup of coffee but only loosly to make sure they were flat and no ripples under the gasket then popped them off. The major thing is you’re a hundred percent sure that gasket is exactly where you left it every time you pop them rocker covers back on which can be a rather large part of the sealing issue .I had a set of Wolfsburg west ones couple years back they looked really good but I couldn’t stop them from leaking I’ll have to try using the blue hylomar most people use on the covers I reckon
I just bought some of these. Turned up within 48hrs. stupidly I didn’t read the add and bought 2 packs, so now have 8 gaskets. Cheap enough though so shouldn’t need to buy any for the rest of my lifeSee these rocker cover gaskets on eBay they look a little thicker in size than the usual standard 4mm ones at 5mm anyone used them?

Nice one Stuart that’s good to hear cheers mateI can say that the 5mm gaskets purchased off Ebay are brilliant. Not leaks . The 4mm ones I always got a leak from both .
