Not the royce kind

Asked before, but I will ask again.
I have seen a few peeps using the rollers to make it easier to work on the bottom of the van.

Are they worth the money and are they safe with the weight of the van?
Mine is a Dormy and I have just put the roof back on, bit if I was to use a roller
would it be better to take it off, due to the weight etc?

They are around £400 quid, but all the pics that I have seen of peeps using on their
vans, the results do look good!

Also, they do one which can be connected to the bumper mounts or chassis - would these
work with the bay - would allow you to access the areas under the beams as
you could remove these and flip over?

Loads of questions, but trying to get my moneys worth

A friend has his on rollers in his front garden. He even managed to get it over on stones(but wouldnt recommend trying that) but had a harder time getting it back up .

From what i can see they make easy work of anything underneath, id say they are worth the value if your repairing more than one van or you have major chassis work to do. I've seen some painful welding burns as well from peeps hanging underneath  .

Strongy built his own and has sucessfully rolled his a couple of times...

must admit it scares the crap out of me.....

gninnam - a mate of mine who lives in Bradford made his own.

If you want i can get in touch with him (not sure if he's using his at the moment), he will have the design or you may just want to have a good look at it.

You may want to make your own - much cheaper than the £400.

mine have been fantastic mate. they're really sturdy and easy to flip the van. i looked at buying the bumper iron rollers but you need more headroom and i didnt fancy supporting my van on four m8 bolts. my mate has mine on his vw caddy at the moment as they come with three different bolt on plates. the rollers i bought dont do wide five though so you need wide five to small five or wide five to beetle or porsche plates to adapt them. if you only do one van with them you can sell them on and barely lose a penny

warning: make sure you have all the oil and fuel holes blocked. Petrol and oil all over the garage, garden or driveway doesnt make for a happy marriage

thats exactly what happened on sunday when my friend flipped his caddy.
petrol all over the garage floor. he had to wait ages before he could brake the grinder out

Tintop - cheers for that - would like to see them in the flesh (so to speak!) so would appreciate the nudge :D

Araon - spoke to Strongy who has said that I can borrow his, but a friend of his is currently using them :(

Andewilson - I have loads of headroom - mine will be flipped on the drive so will have to
invest in a big tarp as well.

Johnny - heard about doing all of that - plus removing batteries, especially if the old type
(which mine are) and removing all loose things from inside the van
