Hi guys and girls,

I've been investigating Rust Bullet paint, and have noticed that you can buy it in several small tins as well as a single large tin.

I'm guessing that this is because once a tin is opened then it has to be used....? Am I right?

Also, any general tips for it's use?

I'm probably going to use it on the inside of the bus rather than the outside, for instance inside the door panels etc....

Many thanks in advance all.....

Carole

been using it myself for the first time for the last few weeks so no comments about how well it works long term, though have wire brushed and etched first, it seems plain wrong to paint over thick rust and expect a long term fix, but did find a way to keep a large can fresh, threw the lid away and used a piece of baco foil to reseal, invert the can briefly and the paint glues the foil to the rim, tear it off to reuse and reseal same way, and the warnings on the can re getting it on your skin are true, its like black superglue, either wait till you shed that bit of skin or sandpaper it off.

R bullet actually cures harder with moisture, if you think that the rust has moisture it actually draws it out and seals the surface from air, but it does mean making sure you got complete coverage.

I think you can reused the tins but like rons says the stuff dries so hard that if you reuse the lid it can seal it so tight it can be really hard to take off.

I had to go for the KBS stuff as the sole suppliers for Rust bullet wont send to N.I (something to do with their carrier :( ).

I ordered KBS from a shop in the same town, Simon Halls better half i think :) , its as volitile but they had no problems posting it to me... hard to understand :? .

The thing with the KBS stuff is that its a three stage treatment so its more hassle to apply :( but i figure, do it right once and dont worry about it again for a long time. I did buy some chassis black Rust bullet for the suspension but it requires an undercoat.

For the cargo floor in my van I bought a RB starter kit from Simon Hall which was two small tins ... that was enough (two tins) with some to spare. Easy to apply and a real good job ... better than POR I thought.

Johhny, did you try LMS Ltd down in Naas, Co. Kildare?

Not sure if they are a new Rust Bullet supplier/stockist, but they had a stand at Classic Car Live, Mondello...and just noticed their advert in last month's Irish Vintage Scene magazine (pg 87).

Contact details as follows:
LMS Ltd, Robertstown, Naas, Co Kildare

Yeah Caroline i did, but the lady taking the order got all flustered and dropped the phone a few times as well (bless her) and i had to give up, i think the carrier charges are seen as international and they hike the prices coming over the border so much so that its twice as cheap to have it sent from the mainland :(

Hiya Carole,

Thanks guys.....One large tin of paint, rubber gloves and a roll of Bacofoil it is then....

Do be sure to take care with this stuff. Anything in the isocyanate family is potentially very dangerous for one's respiratory health. Wear a mask and be sure your workplace is well ventilated.
