Script badge question - boring I know but it's bugging me!

Is there any rhyme or reason with the chrome Volkswagen script badges on the rear hatch? Some have 'em some don't, I suppose it's a bit like the front badge which seems to be big or small or white or chrome!

Front badge: huge = splitty, tiny = late bay, just right = early bay
Chrome badge = deluxe model

Not sure about the script though... good question!
