Sealing the bung on a solex carb?

My solex carb is leaking petrol from the bung type thing on the front of it, its the bit which i believe is meant to pop out if you have a bad backfire possibly? is there any thing i can use to seal around this? thanks for your help!!

JD weld...you can smooth it out while its wet & its the same colour as the carb....oil & fuel resistant....its amazing stuff!
