Hi folks i'll come right out and say it,im thick as fook when comes to mechanical things but im trying to learn so im looking into going back to stock seats as my daughters getting too big and going to get kids cab bunk. Ive managed to procure pair of original seats for my lhd 69 bay which has walkthrough bulkhead and i havnt removed porsche tombstone seats which are fitted just now to see if runners are there. So ive been looking at mattp on here whos getting runners fab'd so few questions based on this
1. I know drivers seat has runners but does passengers too or are they fixed by the brackets only?
2. Are the seats specifically right/left hand drive?
3. Any pics of how passenger seat should be mounted?

Thanks in advance

Only the drivers on my LHD 71 crossover has runners ... as for the other questions don't know!

On my one i have seat runners on drivers side with a reclining seat. On the passenger side the seat has a hook up the top that hooks into the panel and then the seat clicks into the seat brackets on the base.

i never had any seat runners and had trouble finding them and when i did they was priced way to much for secondhand. there's a fella on here that's trying to get some made.

In the end i made some out of £12 Latebay runners av a look!

Like scutch said there are runners on the drivers side but only "u" shaped brackets on passenger side that the seat base sit in to and the seat back hook into a bracket that's mounted on to the walk through bulkhead.

I got my seat brackets FBI VW but I've never seen drivers seat runners being re-produced.

passenger side wise, you can make your own from these plans if you fancy- pretty simple to do if you have a hammer, drill and hacksaw.

Have a look on my thread. There's a picture of the seat brackets. :D

Pics of both LHD and RHD runners attached to (a reather nice ;) ) bus here http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46958" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Passanger side is fixed brackets or use LHD drivers (If you have a RHD bus) and source another drivers seat if you want both reclinable and adjustable for / aft.

Am hoping runners will be ready this week but this is down to a third party so will keep you posted

Update: Spoke to the fabricator, he had the first prototype cut last week but wasn't happy with the result to is getting a second set and hopes to have these sorted this week.

I guess these things take time.

As it happends I have a couple of pairs of the runners but these are on loan until he has either produced a reproduction or gives up trying :lol:

Will keep you posted.
