Can anyone tell me, how many kids can you put on a 3/4 width rock n roll bed/seat? Is it poss to have two 3 point belts and a lap strap for example? Is this legal or can you only sit two on a 3/4 bed?

Thanks

There is enough anchor points on it so that part of it should be fine, if your using car seats will they all fit ?

In reality you will only get two belts on a 3/4 bed comfortably, 3 might be a bit of a squeeze

This has come up so many times now
I had the same question but struggled to get a proper answer
I came to realise that if u won't the best protection for your kids a full width bed is best with two three point seat belts eather side and a lap belt as spair

It can b done with a 3/4 bed seat but its a mish mash and one seat belt has to come across the cupboards, it will work but a bit messy you'll have to get some plates welded in so the belt will pass over the cupboards and fit around your child safely .
If I'm wrong someone please correct me
I struggled to get a proper answer when looking into this

I must admit I've slept in our full width rnr bed and its super comfey so consider going full width if u can ?

I need to document my build - I have a westy [lhd] with a triangulated steel framework in the wardrobe, this has 2 holes one bottom for the interia reel and one at head height [sat down]

under the bed, I have long framework made up that fixes to the original points but then incorporates other seat belt mounting points to allow the stalks and the lap centre belt.

I have used existing connections and then the bases of the side frames have a 6mm 150x150 plate with another captive 7/16 UNF to fix this part down.

It's quite complicated to explain so pics will be required I think?

so the belts come over the shoulder at a nice height on both ends of the 3/4 rnr, because of the frames. with a lapbelt should the kids bring one of their friends.

The thing is it isn't TUV tested or crash tested [thankfully!], but the frames I have made are all in 5-6mm, fully welded and the body work connections are either stock - or have over the top spreader plates [again spot welded for additional security]

The only issue is when we use the bed we have to retrieve the stalks and the belts get tangled sometimes at the edges.

My children are so special and precious to me so all the frames were built with their well being in mind! Rather than a it'll do approach.
Legally you don't have to run them before a certain year - my 68 definitely didn't require them.
It was a real pain to do but worth it in my eyes - especially as the westy furniture only has 2 visible 15mm holes!

i'm in a similar position and need to sort something out beore the kids get bigger, lessons learnt so far are;

we have a full width bed and have used the rear upper seat belt mounts to run two lengths of 25mm steel angle to which we have bolted a sheet of ply as a back rest. these are the mounts that the inertia reel and and the upper guide would run so i have bolted an adjustable angle interia reel to the back of the backrest.

the bottom seat belt mounts are fine and i've routed the cable up behind the seat bases

observations:

the top of the seat belt is too low for adults but fine for kids - we have been using a graco booster seat with backrest which comes with a shoulder seat belt guide. the seat belt comes up to the booster seat guide so everything is the right height for a 4-5 year old and we are now thinking that we could not bother with the booster seat as the seat belt would still be at the right height

but the seat foam we use for the seats is much softer than a car seat so the booster seat does tend to roll sideways somewhat so we are likely to have to fit a riser to raise the top of the seat belt up when kid no.1 gets a bit bigger.

kid no .2 still fits in an iso fix seat for which i robbed an iso fix bracket of a jaguar in a scrap yard and bolted to the back of the passenger bulk head - this is the one i need to fix so that kids can sit side by side on the rear seat but am worried that the big car seat sitting on soft foam will be all over the place

ah the changing times - all i used to woory about is whether the stash was well enough hidden when driving to festivals!

My wife wouldn't let our girls in the back without 3 point belts so I had some welded in, needed plates welded onto the floor and the frame plus a metal bar on the nearside:

This picture was a few years ago now, the girls are 9 & 7 now and we have no issues, don't think we could have got another belt in there especially when the booster seats are there as well, may need to go with a full size bed!
