I've only driven my van about 10 miles (to the MOT station and back twice) and already i think the seats need something doing to them.
Cant get comfy and there is no upper back / shoulder support (im 6ft).
I know it been asked numerous times and i have tried searching but cant find anything so what is the best way to convert the seats to a more modern seat?
The reason i ask is because my dad has a set of Rover 200 seats in the garage that will be going in the skip pretty soon and i'm sure i remember reading somewhere that these are a popular conversion. How would i mount them into my bay?

ive put renault 19 seats in my bus, theyre leather and like bucket seats, super comfy. i basically took the old deats out and removed all the fixings. then took the frames of the renault seats male up 'L' brackets (heavy duty) and welded some bolts to the bracket, then positioned the seat to the position i wanted and drilled 4 holes in the arch. attached the brackets to the inner frame and placed the seat in the holes, got some more heavey duty steal lenghts for support and drilled then welded to the arch, then fixed the seats with locking nuts, theyr're great, cant be adjusted but its in the right position for me :)

look in keeping too i think :D

I put Rover 620ti seats in mine (half leather), look good but due to the height had to dispose of runners & electrics. We don't need to adjust them as they suit me & the mrs & anyway i ain't going to sell my bus so it doesn't matter :D
Though I think it could be a MOT failure if the tester wanted to be fussy. Don't have that problem as our tester loves old VWs :D :D :D

i saw some cracking seats in the local breakers yard last week, lambo gallardio (sp?) and murcelargo? they were cool as but the position was too far back. There were 8 or 9 sets of 996 seats which looked trick.

Blimey Johnny - thats some serious 'breakers yard'!!

I tried fitting more modern car seats years ago (can't remember what they were from) but I found they were too high, and my thighs were very close to the steering wheel - anyone any idea which are very low? I know Saab seats are popular...
Those Renault ones look great.

I've just fitted porsche 924 seats in mine.Cheap to buy and still in keeping with the vw/porsche german thing!Really comfy too and do not get in the way like most seats.Loads of support and high backs too! gonna retrim them and they'll lokok good as new!

Where did you get those from? and how much?

I got em off ebay! Just £65 complete with the runners. They really went in easily!Don't fowl the door armrests, and are not too high up. i'm over 6ft and they are v.comfortable!
There were a few other sets on while i was bidding on these all of them ended under £100 for a pair! It's the way forward!>>> 8)
