I'm sure there's a few people thinking this ad is sexist, but every time my missus takes my car out my last words are always "watch the alloys", and I suspect I'm not in the minority.
Good nostalgia, I'd like them to try that campaign now....
It's a shame that in the modern day world we live in, everyone is so terrified of being politically correct that there's no way an ad like that would ever be seen in this country; despite being tongue in cheek.
I'm pretty sure people were getting offended before the "PC crew" got in. I'd rather my daughters don't have to grow up in a world where they are made to feel they're crap because they're female. Just saying!
Tend to agree with lcfmonkey. VW were always known for their quirky advertising style and as an example of this, this is a fairly good example. But thankfully times have changed and society has moved on a bit.
You have to view the ad in the context of the times.
Sure, we now understand it as sexist, and we frown upon it, but back then it was the norm. That doesn't make it right, but we can't apply today's standards to the past.
We ought to be able to appreciate the old ads for what they are, and what they were. And move on.
