It looks like it has fully extended already to me, otherwise if that is its default 'cold' position and it expands when hot, where else can it expand to, it is already touching the bracket? :?

I bought a 'Mexican' version from Just Kampers, I assume they still sell them.

If you check the picture the stat is not fitted into the bracket properly,so there could be room to expand.

I think it is FUBAR. Does not look like there is any room to move.
Was thinking about it as a spare anyway.

J, that stat is damaged. They should be fully compressed when in good nick.
A common mistake is to test it out of the bracket, they sometimes extend too much and get damage. Always should be tested in the bracket to prevent overextend
