Should they stay or should they go?

Hi,

Since getting our new bus we now have three engines and gearboxes - the 1600tp and box in the new bus, the old 1600tp and box from our old Danbury, and a 1776 from our old bug (and a 2L box which we're gonna use with).

After (who knows when!) we have the 1776 and 2L fitted we were thinking of keeping one engine & box as a spare - but is this really necessary?

So... should we keep a spare - and if so, how should we decide which one to keep as both the 1600tp's are not complete (missing dissy, coil, exhaust etc), and obviously haven't been run for a few years or more? Or should we sell both 1600tp & boxes?

Our new bus was fitted with factory reverse lights and we'd like to keep these. Is there anything on the box which we need to take off and fit to the 2L in order to preserve the reverse function?

Thank you,

Mike

Keep the best engine sell the other with the proceeds get the best spare engine you can up and running (always nice to have something to fall back on), gearbox I'd pass it on as long as the 2ltrs a gud un they are pretty bomb proof

all you need is the switch mounted on the nose cone.....

And if you are selling an engine, could I have first dabs please?! Am a great believer in having a spare motor, so want one to build as a 'permanent' fit, then re-build the present unit as a spare. S/P or T/P, don't mind but as complete as poss please! Beer tokens waiting....!
Oh, and would be keen on a gearbox too, if the price is not silly!

Hi Pete,

No probs dude - first dibs on one of the 1600tp's & boxes is yours. I posted some pics/info about this engine before (see here http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8247&hilit=engine" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

Not really got any ideas what price to ask for engine or box - but feel free to make an offer. If you're going to Slough or the SSVC next weekend perhaps come and have a look?

Let me know if you want any more info.

Thanks,

Mike
