Siting external oil filter?

I am refitting my engine after refurbing the engine bay etc. I have an external oil cooler and filter fitted. They were fitted in an awkward place together so i am looking to re-site the oil filter. The cooler is above the spare battery tray, to cool via the air intake. I'm not sure where to put the filter though.

Any help, where have you sited yours, any pics?

Thanks

Is that such a good location for the oil cooler? Yes it will cool the oil, but the disipated heat will just be drawn back into the engine - I'd have thought the cooler should be below all the tinware, not above it.

not running a cooler but running remote filter which I housed behind the rear wheel under battery tray area LHS as you look at the back

i thought that but having run it for long distances last year i had no problems at all.

how have you mounted it? i placed mine there earlier but was worried about stone damage from smething the tyre kicks up. i put mine with the bottom of the filter facing the road, it just sat so low.

The traditional place for an external oil cooler is over the fan intake, the main reason for running an external cooler is to stop number 3 cylinder over heating which it does in a stock set up.

Not sure if fitting it above the battery will give you sufficient air flow through the cooler unless you have ducting to force the air through. I have seen oil coolers sited underneath between the main rails, most of these I have seen have a ram air scoop.
The main issue with siting a cooler away from any source of fan forced air is what do you do when your not moving, I think its possible to get remote coolers with thermostatic fans fitted.
