My sliding door mechanism 'jumps' outwards when you shut it, just as the door is about to shut and swinging towards the van. The mechanism jumps outwards enough that it hits the sliding door runner cover thingie.

Can anyone tell me for sure if I am missing/have a damaged wheel thing on the mechanism? I took a look at another van the other day and the wheel type thing appeared to be different.

My van is a '71, if it makes any difference...

If it doesn't appear anything is missing... can anyone tell me what is meant to stop the mechanism coming off the track?

Thanks 8)

P.S. does anyone know a source for the little springs for the door catches? My door currently doesn't have the spring on the catch to lock it in the open position.

Can't help with the door gremlins, but the return spring is no.25 from heritage (£7.20 for a little spring  )

What probably caused it is the U shaped piece is seizing up on the shaft. I see quite a few with this situation. Usually only the outer edge of the plastic breaks off, but it looks like you sheared the metal roller in half instead! Never seen that before! We take them apart, shotblast them, then clean up and new grease. Make sure the assembly floats freely on the U shaped shaft.
