As my bay didn't come with a working sunroof, it leaks loads so I'm trying to fix it.

I've sorted the rubbers I think, and I have the cables and cog that moves them, but I'm not sure where the cables go.

Am I right in thinking they fix into these fittings...

On the actual sunroof?

Also, what are these strips of metal meant to do?

as many as u can of the mech, the sunroof and the roof, coz them metal clips are a locking mech to stop it going back to far but just can't quite picture it fully in my head

Here's a few more pictures of what I have.

I can't really open the sunroof at the moment as it's gaffa taped up for the winter.

Hi Olson

The similarity in the problems experienced between yourself and I with our sunroofs is simply amazing! Will post some pics over the weekend of mine, the winding mechanism is missing and yes, it does have gaffer tape as well

Olson,
the Cables attach to the roof via these clamps that slide up and down the guide rail's which should have the cables in them,

Thanks guys.
I have the cables in the guide rails, but I don't have any rear clamps, only two, one either side, towards the front of the bus.
Do the cables connect to the front or the rear clamps?

Cheers,
Ollie

as for this picture i am sure there is another part that should be here which allows the front end to slide along in the tracks, will look in the parts book

Thats what i ment, to busy trying to get little one to sleep at the same time lol

if i remember i think the other part might be on the cables and the ones you have screwed up at the front all ready on the rails are only dummy guides. have you tried to turn the crank on the mech to see if anything comes forward on the mech.as the cables go right to the back of the van.

if you dont have a handle try using a set of mole grips to turn it, the metal strips near to the pins turn out and become a lock mech to control the distance the roof travels..

This is all from memory and about 2 years ago.

its starting to come back,

should be a block that moves back and forth when handle is turned that is what this connects to, i would say it has been wound right to the back..

What does the block look like?

Is it bad if it's been wound right back?

Does anyone have a diagram of these sunroofs?

i will dig my parts book out tomorrow and hopefully find a pick, but it should not be a problem being wound right back as there are stops at the end ..

as for what it looks like from memory it is a block roughly 1-2" long with the cables attached and provision for the pins to locate that u have taken picture of, you will know it when it comes forward trust me as you will have one each side.

i will also look see if i have any pics of my old steel slider about

Cheers, it's all much appreciated.

I now have a winder handle and sunroof seals on order so I can at least wind the cables and see where they go etc.

Right I got the handle and seals.

The handle is ace but the seals are ***** and I have no idea where they go, so it's back to square one.

Is anyone up for a joint order of sunroof seals from the place Araon mentioned, as it's £40 minimum order?

I've just been quoted £51 + VAT for 14ft of rubber seal for the circumference of the sunroof.

Sounds like a lot to me, I might start scouring the scrapyards instead.
