"Spare" hole in tinware.

Whilst poking around in the engine bay this morning I noticed that there is an extra hole to the left of the silver hose as below:

So is this due to a) incorrect tinware, b) something having fallen off, or c) none of the above?

In any case I assume that it could do with being blocked off?
 
Some oil fillers have a breather pipe that goes through that hole, thats what its for. So, either the wrong tinware or the wrong filler. Either way dont stress about it.

That's a different hole Clem and the breather is already fitted in the picture.

The hole in the pic is for the warm air pickup if you have a standard single carb and air filter.
If you have twin carbs or aftermarket single carb or a pancake filter on a standard carb the hole is redundant and best filled in with whatever (non-combustable) thing you have to hand.
