Hi folks,

I am looking at spraying the van however the body work is in excellent condition but the interior is less impressive. Is it wise to get down to bare metal regardless or can you spray over the existing paint..... Does anyone know any good spray painters as I have heard of lots and lots of horror stories.

The Blade.

if the body is excellent why paint it? you can use a cutting compound and a good polisher, none of your electric B&Q crap but the proper 7" circular polisher similar shape to a grinder.

in conjunction with...

you might not need to respray at all.

Out of curiousity, how much paint is needed to spray a Bay?
What is the recommended paint - thinners ratio?
Mine needs to be sprayed at some point and just trying to plan ahead

I sprayed mine with " emron traffic " its a commercial 2 pack paint really but its ideal for going over existing paint work because thiers little risk of a reaction with old paint, i used about 4.5 litres of mixed paint overall ( 2 tone paint including hardener ) and the finish is as good as standard 2k paint, any good paint supplier should be able to supply it. Cost wise your looking at around £250 to paint a bus in this, oh and get a good respirator and spray gun, i have a cheap gun and it shows but im probably being fussy. :)

Has anyone on here used Rustoleum ? following threads on other sites it seems you can get the paint very reasonably priced (£30 for 2.5ltr) and use white spirit to thin it.
