Starting truble

Hi,I have vw bay 1970 lhd 1600.I am having truble with it starting when i turn the key and the ignition light come on but then when i turn it over i just get a click?So i put a knew battey on and have hit the starter motor but no luckDoes anyone have any ideas of what i could do ?

Swap out the starter motor. Certainly sounds like its nadged!

Before changing the starter motor check the earths are all good and the live feds to the starter motor are clean, ie remove them and wire brush or clean with bit of emery paper etc.

You could always put a jump lead from the battery earth to the starter motor body to check the earth is good.

I would suspect this is more likely the fault, if it has sunddlen happened, has the van been unused for a while :lol:

Hi thanks for getting back to me It just sunddlen happened it was working ok the day before and then it just did not start
