Whenevr I drive my van (I go spiritedly round corners (it doesn't do spirited acceleration yet so I have to do something interesting  )
Think it now has about £20-£30 of fuel in it and it's still doing it.

Any suggestions? A friend of mine suggested I hve the wrong fuel cap?
I've put gaffer tape round the inside of the filler neck where it should seal and it seemed to make no difference apart from making it harder to get the cap on.

Possibly the cap ... either get some self amalg tape on it (it forms to the contours better) or buy an emergency cap for now...

have a look at the gasket on the cap and see if the pressure release is functioning on it.

Doesn't look like the right cap. Could also be your rubber filler neck. GermanSupply.com in Canada has a nice replacement kit. Check them out. Ask for Scott if you call them. Good time to think about the interior condition of your tank as well, and probably a good idea to replace the tank strainer. You gotta yank your tank for all that though.

Worth remembering that if fuel can get out, then water can get in...

;)

as araon said - this type of locking cap should have a rubber gasket which often falls out. you can make a replacement using something like this -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Large-Cork-Sheet-Gasket-Material-500x1000x3mm-Thick_W0QQitemZ330166809335QQihZ014QQcategoryZ9895QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

start with a 70mm circle and then make the gasket 10mm wide. 3mm thickness works fine.

however i could be totally wrong......

schofilds have em in stock at the mo,m mabee worth geting a new en as they dont usually have em

Cheers guys, Might be worth me getting a new cap from Schofields anyway.

I cn't find it on their website though Strongy, is it on there or do I need to phone em? (edit: I'm after a locking fuel cap though whatever I buy)

Ta everyone for the help :)
