Been on my hols around the Wareham area in Dorset.
Had the misfourtune to break down on the way back to the campsie on Monday.
Got to a big roundabout just pulling off and heard a big bank from the rear and lost power, so i had to pull up onto the nice big green rounabout near to the police college.
After a quick glance in the engine bay, pleased to see it all where it should be. Looked underneath to find the O/S driveshaft bolts came undone.
With that a knock on the window by a local who asked if i had broke down (theres me thinking no, i thought that i would camp here for the night), if so he would tow me to a safe place and call his mate whos into VW's.
Off we go and up turns his mate to find out what the problem was.
1 sheared, 1 bent and 4 fallen out bolts.I had the 4 good bolts, caould'nt do much with the bent one but he went home to make up a spare bolt for me and came back 5 mins later with it and some locktite.
After an hour of messing around in the pouring rain i was on my way to finish of my hols.
Its good to know that there are still good people out there who are willing to help others out.
So if anybody knows of the man who lives in the Wool area of Dorset whos son has a split screen and a few Beetles, give him a pint from me. (Which i offerd and he refused to accecpt.)
The driveshaft now has new bolts and **** loads of locktite on them now.
