I've done one of my rear arches this weekend using Hammerite stonechip paint, i'm not entirely happy with the finish of it, i want a more ripply finish if you know what i mean

Ive had a search and there are a few differant makes but dont know what which one to get, i've used 2 600ml cans on one arch

Anybody tell me what theyve used, not bothered aerosol or shutz type can

Heres a pic of the finish with the Hammerite

I would have thought that the smoother it was, the easier it would be to keep clean, ;)

Its not a major uneveness im after, more of a texture really

UPOL Raptor.

Comes in tintable(clear) or black. Can be applied direct to bare steel, can also be overpainted.
Although its a truck bed liner its ideal for sills and inner arches.

We use it extensivly at work and I've used it on my loadbed, photos of the results are on my resto thread here http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2264&start=320" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The only stonechip I've used that gives a nicer texture is a 3M product that comes in a bag that requires a special gun. It's amazingly expensive and 1 bag only does 2 sills, it gives a finish that is identical to the sills on newer VWs. (MK5 golf etc)

I got the rattle can type to try, is the finish differant in the shutz can ?

Quite pleased with the finish, will post a pic tomorrow

Massivly and you've much more control over it, with the rattle can what you get is what you get, with the shultz gun you can adjust your air pressure, less pressure gives more of a splatter and therefore more of a texture.

UPOL Gravi Guard isn't bad if your sticking to whizz cans.
