How do i remove the upper torsion bar, undone and removed the pinch bolts same as the lower which just slid out.
Upper seems to be resting on bump stop and cant seem to leaver it at all.
Have tried to tap bar but dont whack to wack it to hard
The beam is on the workbench in the garage.

Wanting to fit new ball joints before fitting new beam on my van.

Any ideas please.

Yeah, I made that mistake the first time around. The bump stop needs to come off, this will ease the pressure on the trailing arm. However even with the bump stop out of the way the arm will still foul the bump stop bracket. I did mine on the van which meant I could use a jack to raise the hub assembly and release the bump stop. It's going to be a little more tricky on the bench. Good luck.
