Treating Roof Rust

I'm planning to tackle a bit of surface rust and fill a couple of small holes in the roof today.

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to treating rust and I don't have a grinder but I'd like to give it a go myself!

am I correct in saying:

Sand back the problem areas as best as possible to bare metal

Treat with kurust or similar

Etch prime and filler

Sand again using finer paper

Etch prime

Full prime

Paint

Yep, sounds about right. If you can blast that rust you stand a better chance of holding it back, but that should give you a good few years. Rust is a bugger, never sleeps.
