Hi,

Just bought some twin dellorto carbs 36 drla's to fit to my 68 bay!

Good old Gadget is going to fix em in for me but he's told me that pre 70 vans had single port engines?

Have i stupidly ordered the wrong carbs or will they still fit?

Dave

Many engines have had twin-port upgrades over the years, can you post a pic up of the inlet manifolds? that'll tell us.

A quick look at the manifold will let you know....

from the carb there'll be a cast tube straddling the engine...

does this go to thin tubes which bend down to the heads or is the cast tube attached to rubber boots which in turn are attached to a fairly chunky cast that bends to the heads?

The latter being twinport.

With the dels did you get the manifolds?

if you have a single port then you'll need the single port manifolds, not as common but I believe CIP1 do them...

here's some pics of the engine not at home at mo so cant get to van to have a look

Yea you need a single port manifold, but if struggling in the power department and rev's i'd look at the rear tyres first.

All the carbs will do is move up the rev's due to slight increase in power with a stock gear box. A stock single port with decent tyre size won't get you down the strip, however should be good enough for day to day use.

give eurocarb a call they should be able to sort out the manifolds and linkages.....buy yourself a book aswell whilst your there....

good luck fella...setting up should be fun :D

Rear tyre size is pretty decent already 185 70 i think

Putting a AT coded bug box in at the same time as the carbs so should be all good.

Not cheap though, 14" rims need some thing like 195/75 as a min to get the gear ratio back.
