Hey Guys,

I've just got back from laying under my truck changing the gearbox coupling and I realised that I really need to get the underneath sealed.

Its all untreated with a light coating of surface rust, whats the best way of treating it all? I'm struggling for time so cant strip down and rub back the entire chasssis etc.

Ta,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Just done mine , i raised it on my mates car ramp and sprayed whole chassis with Waxoil.
It treats rust and prevents any more.
Cheers Paul.

I "borrowed" a 2.5 litre tin from my dad and used nearly all of it
I think you can get it in Halfords, not sure how much.
I sprayed it using an under seal gun on a compressor.
Should be good for a while now!

5 ltrs about 30 quid get the spray nozzle for 7 ish

black or clear available in most motor factors and ebay though the postage kills the benifit of getting it on ebay.....

I personally like to use the clear Waxoyl as you can still see everything clearly after its been done,at this time of the year Iv'e found that it helps if you warm it up before use. I also used an undersill gun and ended up wearing it as well.

also, if you decide to use the Black Waxoyl, its not recommened for use with the 'Waxoyl extension probe'. I can verify this as it just oozes out. when I run the clear through it I actually got a spray from the extension probe. You could try thinning it down with white spirits,it may help it thro the probe but reduce its effectiveness underneath.

Done all my box panels on the Vectra with the extension & clear without a problem.

Anchor wax.

You can brush it on really easily and it goes a long way. It can be used on the inside or outside of your bus and lasts longer than waxoyl. I think Heritage are stocking it, or if not have a nose on the SSVC forum, there is a guy on there called 'filby' who sells it in 5L cans.

;)

Excellent cheers guys.

I think I'll go down the clear wax route so I can spray it in all the nooks and crannies.

Thanks,
Steve.

It's better to warm it first and mix it with a little used engine oil to help it spray better

Only thin with white spirit for spraying box sections, just get it hot in a bucket of boiling water for spraying underneath.

If your spraying in cold weather you will need to keep putting it in hot water to keep it liquid, a 2.5l tin is about 28 quid the spray kit is about another 20 quid.(get the round tin it your buying the spray kit the pressure pump screws on to the tin, or try using a garden sprayer if you have one.
