I´m wondering about visible bolt heads on the front side of my Westfalia poptop, but not on the poptop of other Westys. I´m talking about the hardware which mounts the support (no. 57 in the exploded view above) to the poptop. I saw several Westys which don´t show these bolt heads in the front side of the poptop. Has Westfalia changed this during the years (my Westy was built in August 1970) or was it changed on my Westy later by a previous owner?

Here´s my Westy:

And here´s a pic of user "69 Westy" which doesn´t show the bolt heads.

Mine's a 70 and it has those bolts in for the brace bar.

Maybe pre 70 they didn't have the brace bar and it was added in 70 on models to give the top greater strength?

I'm sure a westy expert will be along soon to advise if year correct or not
