Volksworld Show 2024

For those that have watched the decline of the Volksworld Show over the last few years theres currently an active discussion on one of the 'Trader Groups' where hopefully the feedback will end up back at Kelsey/TMS who run the show for Kelsey.

We'll see though, its been talked about before but theres lots of discussions about why 'patina cars' where turned down for this years show but cars where being dragged in of the grandstand area at the last minute to fill the space. It appears to be the same old story but with no MCJ/Schofields and a few others not trading this year it must make them have a think.

£32 on the door was a lot for this year as well, expensive day out.

Lovely. My Fasty was a B289 peppermint green dechromed custom that had been let go to seed a bit. I ended up replacing the front and rear valences and going through the whole car and then at that point I bought a lovely original Squareback of the estate of a (deceased) elderley man, so sold it off as it was. Its been abandoned and broken up now.

After the last few years of getting a small discount on weekend tickets to dsiplay, I was advised quite late on that we would get free passes to display. At this point it was too late to get it together, but all these elements impact (potential) attendance, and had we known, we could have got a few vans in the redbrick area which would no doubt have helped the event.

Its the first time I've not gone in some capacity in over 20 years. Numerous reasons, but the M25 closure was the final deciding factor, which is a shame as it appeared not to have that great an impact on traffic. I'm not gonna pass judgement as I didn't go, but it did seem that things were quiet. Once these events get into a spiral like this, it can be hard to reverse as they are self perpetuating. I reckon next year it will be billed differently, and the Porsche element increased?

The whole Earlybay scene has fragmented in recent year, I see so many at shows still but it seems that the T5/6 owners are the ones that are more interested in actually showing their vehicles. I believe it's because less people use this site and more use Facebook. This was always a good place to advertise lineups and shows etc and we always had good numbers willing to get involved. I for one will make more of an effort this year to get out and about

Agreed. Lockdown etc changed many peoples habits in different ways (mine included) and momentum has not been regained. The VW scene has also changed massively, its become much smaller and increasingly hardcore towards older rarer stuff, I think.
The demise of Forums doesn't help either. FB groups are ok, but there are too many, I stopped joining Aircooled groups on FB when I'd got to about 20, and then had to mute them when I was constantly getting notified of the same post 20 times when it had been posted in each one of those groups I'm sure I wont be the only one who gets overwhelmed and ends up ignoring it all ....
Line ups have also been battered a bit by FB 'societies' putting on big bus displays of all comers that then dilute the specialist displays.

Perhaps a good idea for organisers of the larger events would be to have a dedicated pre-(name a year) option camping area. Don't get me wrong I've met plenty of peeps over the years who drive later vehicles but I have more in common with the AC guys. Chatting around a fire about how the captain's chair swivels can only keep my attention for so long
