any advice on this subject lads, when i picked up my vw from the docks, i insured it with a well known company , gave them all the details that they wanted, told them it was an import, and only had the chassis no,, they gave me a quote, for 150, i had to insure it just in case summat happened on way home,(never did thank god) they sent me a letter saying if i didnt send the v5 they would cancel the policy,, i phoned them today, told them it will be sent once i have all the work done, and get it through mot, which could be 3 to 4 months,(prob longer,) they said well ,we will have to cancel the policy, i argued that they knew it was a project, and they gladly took my money, but he said he will ask his branch manager if it can be sorted , does it need to have a v5 for insurance,??? thanks :(

i got told they could only insure mine on the vin for 30 days so may be some truth in this luckily i got it sorted 2 weeks into owning it
