not wanting to put a dampener on your progress but might be an idea to move the plastic fuel filter out of the engine bay.
Just to be safe.

I'm still new to this so this might be a stupid question.

Do these filters melt or leak well before the fuel hose would or is there another reason to move it ?

I ask this as I was planning on putting one just about where it's shown here

Thanks

I've personally not managed to melt one but i have snapped a couple. they seem rather fragile to me and i'd rather have as few joins in the fuel hose over my hot engine a possible.

Above the gearbox is good dude(that's were i put mine) that way if it does brake fuel will only poor onto the gearbox not all them hot bit's in the engine bay

Another good one is straight as it comes out of the tank, I did that after replacing my carb and fuel lines because of the treacle in the tank. Tank refurbed no more treacle. Loads of people on the site have had these burst in the back of the engine bay, with horrible consequences.

Ahhh now your worrying me. i was having such a good day :(
When i purchased this bus all the fuel lines and filter had been replaced just i guess not in the best place !?
Is it much of a job to move ?

Oh that's ok lol
Spent £100 s SO far
80 here 130 there 600 over there
I like the 10 / 20 hits don't hurt as much. Ill get that on order .
I've always been nervous about the fuel issue

I really enjoyed today. Came away buzzing ! Learnt loads. Was great watching n learning from a pro . I feel that a few more sessions n i can start looking after it myself on some stuff !

Was really cuffed he reckons its a blinding bus ... Body work and engine
Ill sleep well tonight :)

Try doing it your self chap it is a nice straight forward job.
Just make sure the clamps are done up nicely the run it up for a minute and then double check for any leaks.
You can always get your mechanic to check it when you are done.

Sorry didn't means to wee on the camp fire. But would hate to have your day ruined by another type of fire, I used a metal fuel line in the engine bay, straight out of the tank I put a 90 degree fuel line the a small piece of tube then the filter then back to tube right up to where the metal tube come through the fire wall, all are available from place like JK and heritage literally. A couple of pounds each.

Hiya,

Look at this thread re fuel lines
I had serious trouble with mine and bought a kit off eBay to sort it out
With no fuel filter in the engine bay!

And here's the eBay link for the stuff you need!

Good luck

Isn't the fuel hose in that link the wrong size? Should be 5.6mm I think. I always get it from these folk http://www.advancedfluidsolutions.co.uk/56mm-id-732-saej30r9-nitrile-rubber-fuel-injection-hose-sae-r9-627-p.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Totally fine on my bus :D
The hose fits nice and snug and with the clips in place it's as tight as a gnats chuff

Maybe it is 5.6mm but the eBay seller has rounded it up?

Spence

That's all very interesting. Just read the link. Ill have a look under my bus later and make a plan for getting that moved. It is a brand new hose filter and clips just not in the best place i guess. There's me thinking it was ready to take out for a quick spin.
Mind u im still laying in bed not looked out window yet but last night was 3 inch of snow on ground so my bus will b staying in garage for now ! :D
