Hi all

My name is Henry and I've recently become part of the editorial team at VW Camper&Bus magazine.

I just thought I'd introduce myself, and let you all know I'll be responsible for the Show Us Yours section of C&B, in which you'll have the chance to get your van in the mag.

We'll try and get everything we receive printed. Just email us!

Send us a few pictures of the interior and exterior, a bit of history of the van in around 200 words and let us know roughly where you are in the country.

Please write to [email protected] with anything you'd like to share. We look forward to hearing from you!

Sounds like a Rafa style rant. The 'Show us yours' Section is exactly that, not a full spread.

I have to agree though that c&b is a bit rubbish at times.
I liken it to the channel "Dave" it sometimes has something good on but its mostly adverts.

rafa wasnt actually ranting, i thought he made some very truthful comments, hes a top manager being treated outrageously by a section of the fans. on the other hand i have no idea what C and B did on giz59? ive pmed you mate to get to the bottom of it.

I know we all have opinions but this forum does try to support all aspects of "the scene" (i hate that phrase) please try to be kind. if this decends into a mud slinging match the thread will get locked.

My advice is if you dont like it, dont buy it. this guy is just doing his job and trying to make improvements.

True Johnny Rafa wasn't ranting this time and the hierarchy of Chelsea really are showing wait a joke they are. However last time really was a rant :)

This ^^

It cant be easy trying to keep a magazine going that is so specialised.

Agree ^^

Not the friendliest welcome on to the Forum and isn't he giving us the chance to display our buses which presumably will be the ones we want to see in the mag? Presumably it could lead to full features too if they like what they see!

I'm a company director .... but then the company is only me and my sales are poor and I cant afford anyone to work on my bus ... that's the truth man LOL.

Looks like I best get out in the drive and sort me bus out so I can get it in the mag

:) :) :) :) :)

This is my opinion not the Forums:
The guys I have met from C&B are enthusiasts and good guys they have put loads into "the scene". It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I have enjoyed it over the years. There are loads of "Normal" people (I use the term loosely  ) from here who have had their buses featured in the mag.

I think I'm a typical c&b reader - which is why I read it.

Wanted a bus for years - but spent all my spare cash on cycling when I was in my 20s, then had kids and didn't have any spare cash in my 30s really. I'm now at the stage where I can afford to indulge myself a bit - I don't have the know how to do half the stuff I want to myself, and I don't have enough time to learn - so I pay other people to do my welding, build my engines and such like - and they generally make a better job of it than I do.

I'm not a company director, but I doubt I look like a 'typical' bus owner (if such a thing exists) when I'm doing my day job.

Not sure that makes me any less of an enthusiast?

Totally agree, I would love to able and have the skills and the time to do all the work on my van but I simply don't. So what is wrong with paying a skilled person to do it for me! The magazine in question caters for individuals who like camper vans for their own reasons regardless of their status, if you don't like it don't read it, I thinks that's rather simple. My van chills me out it doesn't wind me up......Henry you have got my support mate keep doing what you can...

I work long hours away from family to earn a crust. This does not mean an unlimited budget by any means, but it means I can pay people to do the jobs I am not capable of myself.

Does this make me less of an enthusiast ?

I don't have the time or space to work on my van as much as I'd like to. However I've had more than my fair share of skinned nuckles and lying in the gutter fixing the bloody thing

I would like a modest workshop, free time (work and children uses up all that) and an understanding wife (also overworked and busy with children).

I would class my self as a genuine enthusiast though, I've had countless classics in the last 30 years since passing my test.

So yes C&B, if you want to run an article on a 68 Devon I have no qualms about my integrity.

(not a company director by the way, just a potter :D )

I have my gripes about C&B though I still buy it, and enjoy (most of) it. :D

I recall James Preene of said mag touting for business some time ago and I emailed in response, as you do when you are new to the scene and dead keen. Not even an acknowledgement, which put me off the mag a bit. I remain convinced that the majority of the major articles, though not all, are infovertisements (is that a word?). See the article on Calypso Interiors in the current edition.

I doubt I'll waste my time again but do PM me if you are interested, Henry. You can look at my blog and resto pics to get a flavour of what I might say.

mines nearly done and i would love to get it in the mag it makes all the skin loss and late nights and lack of money worth while

I like to 'try' to do anything I can on my bus, (and previous cars) but I'm fairly limited in mechanical knowledge, anything I'm not confident at doing or not very good at doing will be left to the pros. I've wanted a bus for about 10yrs now, finally got my first bus in december, after a bit of saving and money as wedding gifts. I only work on a drilling rig and I couldn't direct traffic!!

Bottom line is, I love my bus and I'm proud of it (so far) so I'd show it off!! :D
