I do what i can on my bus, but prefer to leave it to the real skilled people whos job it is to build engines, sort brakes, paint etc. I work my ass off so that i can pay professionals to work on my bus, so that when i get in it, i turn the key and off i go. I do as many things as time allows me to do and enjoy what i can.

Apart from all that i have been in most VW mags with my bus and enjoyed being in them when it was a time before T4s & 5s etc, now most vw mags look just like motorhome monthlys, i just hope whoever can will change direction of at least one magazine and keep it classic, but in the current climate you have to do what you have to do. 8)

Totally agree with the ongoing sentiment of I may not be able to do all the work on my bus but for safety and convenience I would rather pay a "professional" to sort some jobs, it don't make me any less of a fan. To those who do everything on their buses I admire your skill and dedication but don't knock others. To those who pay for everything I personally think they are missing out but each to their own. If folks get a change to show off their buses let em. My first early bay (always been late!) will be off the boat on the 13th March and I can't wait. We roll up at the same meets and shows to chill with like minded people and admire the work of amateurs and professionals.

I got my bus last year after many years of looking but not having the funds.
Im a single parent so havent got a bottom less pit of cash so am learning to do certain jobs fast Basic engine service was one of the first jobs i came to terms with but with more conferdance i get the braver im getting Making friends with a couple of aircooled specialists also helps

Our love of keeping these old buses on the road should be enough and as long as they keep getting in the mags shouldnt that be all that matters really

Thanks for the kudos, guys.

It seems everyone that has posted on this thread has a different view on C&B. We look to encompass that.

'Show Us Yours' is exactly that, we try our best to get a range of vans in there each month, from old to new, pride-and-pleasure restored to... need to be restored. My original post wasn't touting for A-grade buses for the cover, we're looking for everything. Daily drives to Show & Shine contenders - if you're proud of it, you'll want to share it, right? If we get something that stands out, there is a chance we'll look to turn it into a feature bus. That's how it works.

So don't be shy, get in touch!

Ok, I just sent in some pics and short description of how I got it.

In my email I asked if they could send me a copy of the magazine if they use my bus. If they can't do that, I am going to ask one of you guy's to buy it and send it to me. I will of course pay for everything. I can't subscribe do the the cost of shipping the magazines to the USA. :(

On a separate note, if you ever do feature my bus, could you please make sure there aren't the glaring spelling mistakes that there are in this issue's late bay feature. :msn4:

I went to dubs in the park once with my brother and his 68 westie - both parked up and found out that C&B had a report on the show and buses were snapped! Rushed out to buy a copy - how cool 8)

turned out it was my brothesr bus "this is how we like our early westies!", and the photographer had positioned it perfectly to get all his bus, whilst avoiding my front bumper in the shot

I'm going for second time lucky and appreciate the invite :D

if im being honest Henry, i like your mag.. but it tends to be the quickest read of all the mags i buy. I have nothing against it though, bar that :)
Im sure most people would love their busses featured, so im sure there's plenty of top class bays on here to keep you busy,.. I personally, like the stories that come with the readers rides as much as any bit of a magazine that i buy, so good luck with it all

ive banned GIZ59 for acting the ****, nasty piece of work with a massive chip on his shoulder.

Had a feeling he might have been  (a nasty piece of work - that is)

I guess we all enjoy our vand differently. Some pay others to do the work and enjoy driving it. For me it's all about doing as much of the work myself learning on the job. Big part of the fun is also sourcing parts. For me driving he van is sort of a bonus.

When the van is up to my taste I might sell it and start all over trying to make an even better van.
Anyway, we all enjoy our vans and I would love to be in a mag someday.

I've done that with every bus I've owned. I don't know why, must be a glutton for punishment I suppose, although there's at least 4 buses driving around that would've probably been to the breaker's yard.

I'm not after 15 minutes of fame appearing in a magazine, there's no way any of my buses would've got in there anyway.
It's never been trying to be part of a "scene", it's all about the good and bad times of living with a bus for nearly 30 years, the people I've met and the places I've been, the chase for parts and wondering why I ever bought some of them, the way the final look gradually evolves and the smile that comes whenever I turn the key.

What's been going on here?

Have I missed a step or something and what has giz59 been up to?

I don't get on here as often as I'd like but I'm a lurker on ALL the VW forums.

Henry has joined the C&B team and it sounds like he hasn't had the warmest of welcomes so what have I missed?

From what I can gather from this thread - a simple request asking to get more of your Buses in the mag - it sounds like there's a bit of beef about who does what on the vehicles - built or bought.

I make no bones about if a Bus is cool we'll feature it.

Unless there's a glaring cock-up (an email gets missed or something) if someone sends us some pics on their Bus it will always go in the mag - either as a letter, readers ride, back to mine or as a full on feature if I think we should go down that route.

Also, I'm only human. Until Henry joined the team it was only me working on the mag and answering everyone's emails/letters/phone calls so I'll hold my hand up and say some might have not been answered promptly but I always do my utmost to reply to everyone who contacts us. Now Henry's onboard one of us will reply for sure...

All comments and all Buses are welcome in C&B and if ever anyone has a complaint or query then can email me direct at [email protected]
