Wanted:: 1303s gearbox

Every gearbox has a number, like engines do.

You need to find a 'box starting with the letters AS, AT or AU, as these have the higher final drive

Does the box have to be out of a 1303s then to make it worth having ie have the 3.8 ratio? or did any 1303 have the box with the 3.8?

No as theres a few out there running older boxes you need the code...

towards the nose cone spanning the last pair of ribs is a number begining wit 2 x letters and 5 x numbers.

the letters give the model and the numbers are manufacture date

AT - 1303s/Cabrio

i dont know what thing and ghia boxes are like (probably identicle) thats why i was specifically asking AT code and they are more common.

its the fourth ratio thats important must be 3.8 to be useful

to be honest the thing is the same at 3.875 assuming its an IRS being that its an off road developed vehicle.

the bus CA code is for normal driving 5.375 final drive
CB code for mountainous areas 5.857
CC normal LSD 5.375
CD mountainous LSD 5.857
CN 1800 4.857 august 1973>
CP 2000 " "
CT 2000 " "
CU 1600 " "
CV 1600 " "
DE 1600 " "

LSD - limited slip differential avoid unless you want excitement in your life

so to be honest any bug box IRS non LSD (unless you doing 1/4s farely regularly) would be an improvement and the 1303s being the best for distance at speed....

AM coded 4.375 final drive from a 1303 indeed you get the rolling Chassis
didnt sell earlier so hes dropped the starting price and BIN well worth offering him less hes desperate to get shot of the lot
