Hi, we're new on here (and to the whole VW scene really!), but are looking for an early bay. We need a solid body/chassis, as we can't do any welding, but not too worried about engine or interior. Paintwork doesn't have to be show condition, just not too bad.

Budget of between 5-8k depending on condition and work needed.

We're in Essex, so any thing in or around East Anglia would be fantastic! But we're willing to travel for the right van.

a mates just had this in from the US, got more pics if needed

7500ish as is, 8500ish ready for mot, new whitewall tyres , serviced etc etc

Iv got a 72 for £4,500 running starts on the key, solid underneath, needs front floor and battery tray welding for the mot and a bit of tlc! inside is empty so ready to put your own stamp on it, can supply rock n roll bed etc.

hi welcome. This isnt my bus but a bargain I think... RHD westy on the road for under 5k !

Cheers for all the replies. Some people have pm's. Thanks for all the advice, we understand that we'd have to pay more for better van, thats why we're ideally looking for one that we can do some work on ourselves. We're taking all the advice on board though, maybe an import would be best and easiest, we're definitely open to that option. Thanks.

FWIW - Best advice I can give is:

Take someone with you who 'knows' vans when you go to look at any van.
Try not to let your heart rule your head, or it will end in tears.
If it 'just dosen't feel right', walk away, there are plenty more vans about.

I ignored all the above when I bought my first latebay [sorry] van 15 years ago, and got my fingers very burnt and learnt the hard way :(

If you can, join a local VW club and take the chance to look at their vans and talk to them about them.

Good luck with your search :)
