Wanted - The 091...Aka the 6-rib bay gearbox

Can you please explain what the benefits of this box are and why they are so rare?

You want one becuse they are rare???? :roll:

The 091 were used in the later T4 type engine'd Bay's and the T25 too.
They have a stronger case because they have more bracing built into the case, hence the '6 ribs'. The ring & pinion are stronger too.

There are 2 types though. The 'Bay' version will fit strait into a, er, Bay.
The one fitted to a T25 needs to have the nose from a bay box fitted so the selector does what its ment too.

I saw something on a thread a while back which explained with pics better that I can with words & if I find it, i'll post the link. :D
 
6 ribs were fitted to later 1.7, 1.8 and 2 litre buses i think? better ratio fourth for cruising, so makes for a much more pleasant motorway experience.

we have 1 gearbox with 6 ribs in stock,
but 4th gear springs off.

not to bad a price when you look at what us lot spend on our busses,quite fancey one myself.so you can get a new one???that fits straight on to a bay???
 
whats making me wonder is most late bays have a 5 fin box.Which i a bloody good box nd fetches good money!..when did the 6 fin box come into pley?

You may have to change the nose cone..ill find out some more details.I thing the price is good too...ill keep you posted.He might come up with some good second hand ones at a good price too :)

Sorry Gary no such luck.
He may have a 5 rib but not 100% certain ??
