Hope this is the right forum.

I've been looking at various options of increasing my storage space in/around my van for my trip around Europe.

I was wondering what people use (if anything) to store stuff on their roof racks and keep them dry(ish)?

I'm considering getting something along the lines of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121195595764?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm just thinking of using it for storing a few sports clothes / cycling bits and bobs etc.

Anyone had any experience / use anything similar?

Thanks

Tom

Hi
I've used something similar, but not that particular make, on my boat. Works well. The only comment I would make is to check how robust the material is. Might well be waterproof when new, but how about after being dragged off and on the roof rack?
The boat ones are made of a much thicker PVC material and are quite a bit more expensive. Have a look at a boat chandlers.

yeah I've used these before for sleeping bags etc on my roof rack - work good as long as you wrap them tight

I use the heavy weight ones from Ortlieb http://www.ortlieb.co.uk/drybags/black-grey-ps490-drybag.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; they're more expensive but they really do last, I've had my 3 for over ten years. I use one as a wetsuit bag to put your soggy suits in, totally waterproof & pretty much indestructible, they just live on the roof rack when were away...

I can't access the link from work but I think the one in the top is a nylon bag? If so avoid.

On ebay you can get a heavy duty 90L roll top water proof bag, they are about £15 each and are brilliant.

I use them for bedding and clothing on the roof of my van. They can take a fair amount of abuse without any bother. The nylon ones are not quite so water proof and cant take the punishment. I'll try to find a link and post it up when I am home.

Thanks for the recommendations - will get a couple of the Ortlieb's ordered, that should be sufficient for us.

Thanks

Tom
