Hi all,
I'm new to this forum but wondered if anyone had any cheap and quick ideas for waxoyling the underside of my van?
Saw the article in January's Camper & Bus, but seemed a bit long winded and required some specialist equipment.
Do Halfords sell anything worth using?

have you got compressor?you can get kit with long lance ,not to pricy.worth investing in if keeping bus. you could use mine but probly to far away from malvern.

Weathers too cold for waxoyling at present, it will set in the spray equipment, unless you have a heated garage you can use.
Getting wax in the box sections is more important IMO as this is where the rot that destroys these vans starts. If youve ever had the opportunity to see the inside of these section during a restoration you will know there is bugger all protecting the metal.
That said getting a good coat of wax on the underside is well worth it, just try to get it as clean as possible first.

I agree with noddy - I would only attempt to waxoyl in the warmer weather, the warmer metal will allow the waxoyl to run further before setting, therefore giving greater coverage.
Halfords do a complete kit including a hand pump that just screws into the refill tins, injection nozzle/extension probe, prob cost £40 ish all in.

The actual job doesn't take too long if you're just coating the visible under side,I know you said cheap & quick but the best job is to fill all the cavities that you can't see - the warmer the metal the better!!

The downside is It'll take you ages to clean it all and put it away though & make sure your neighbours car & washing isn't anywhere near - its messy messy stuff!

p.s. the black is thicker than the clear so it can't be used in the extension probe, however there is nothing stopping you thinning it with white spirit.

yes to cold now,i always stand container of waxoil in hot water so it sprays as a liquid, and yes get it into cavities, spraying on underside dont do a lot but does help.wait till spring now pm me if you want it done :)

You can get Chemwax 60/40 from http://www.chemodex.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which liquid and designed for spraying

Ankor Wax is much thinner to use from the off :)
