Looking great! 8) protecting the underside was on my list of things to do!

Yep, drivers side cab floor and the whole of the cargo floor were replaced, it was too pitted and perforated to viably be patched up and repaired and look good.

I've got three late bays around the corner from me. Couple of White Westys passing through. I've only seen one grey split panel van around here, lowered, chromed and alloyed...it's a show winner.[/quote]

Hello mate, is there an R reg devon late bay near you ? Think its black now .. Guy I sold it to about 7 years ago( chad or brad?) was gonna get it painted. He lived at Your street, noticed after getting my eb tax disc holder.

Your bus is lovely too btw !

Dave

Yeah Chad lives opposite me, I had just moved here when he had the black bus. He hasn't had any Dubs for a while. Model B ratrod is his latest toy, unless he's sold that on already!

Ah cheers for that, though was hoping he still had it so I could see how it was looking now. Miss that bus, was my first bay  he seemed a decent fella ,say hello to him for me. Anyway keep up the good work on yours mate.

Dave

Some of the fun stuff arrived today. Coconut 'hair' seat pads. I was all for ordering from Wolfburg West until a lovely shipping charge appeared at checkout. They only wanted £300 dollars! Custom and Commercial posted them free and it arrived next morning. 8)

Leaning towards a brown interior, tan, saddle or maybe biege TMI. When I get the van back I can see in natural daylight which colours match the paintwork best. It looks very different depending on the lighting!

I just PMd you about what Dinitrol products but just now read abt it on here, the Dinitrol 445 & ML3125. Can you please let me know how much 445 and ml3125 would be sufficient to do the "full" job?

Wondering if this Kit would suffice? http://www.rejel.com/rejel-store/rust-proofing-stone-chip-kits/din04l.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks

Hi,

The job isn't complete yet, so can't tell you exactly how much will be used.

Estimate 1 litre of ML3125 sprayed into the cavities and perhaps 8-9 1 litre cans of 445. Bought mine direct from the distributor on eBay.

The 445 is not see-through, I changed my mind about the thin brown sticky stuff and preferred the look and performance of 445. You can see it on the arches in the above photograph.

yeah i saw the end product, looks ace ;)

I think i will wait until after the job is done before i could order mine. so that i know the exact quantities i would be needing. b/w my van has never been cavity waxed, it looks :( so i am guessing i would be requiring double the quantities that you would end up consuming :D

Underseal complete...I'll let you know how many cans were used when I'm up again.
One Laurie Pettit engine almost ready.
Stainless Steel Bluebird Stock Style exhaust delivered!

or was that Laurie as well?

Where's that rolling about the floor laughing smiley? No Laurie doesn't do pretty.

I had it powder coated locally, 21 bits in total. I've still got some new parts to buy and some polishing to do.

 I thought as much! I reckon that grey would look really nice as colour scheme inside the Westy as well… ;)

x10 litre cans of Dinitrol 445 and x1 3125, although I have some belly pans underneath so you might need more in the nooks and crannies.

One twisted bent back into shape bumper, cut welded and repainted brackets to fix wonkiness with Bluebird stock style exhaust...How else am I going tell mine from all those white westies???

I nearly sent this exhaust back, arrived slightly dented after being poorly packaged and the look on the face of the courier when I said "to be careful...that's fragile."

The bluebird has a very ugly bracket...probably put in after the design to resolve a problem? But she's got the look.

Hi!

Did i miss this first time around? :msn4: The engine looks amazing!! Very very nice in that colour, love the fan shroud, still got outlets to run heat exchangers, really nice. How does this differ from the stock tinware, aside from the shape?

I'm running the same exhaust system. Got it 2nd hand, the bracket on the tailpipe was fractured, I had it TIG welded up, I guess vibrations causes metal fatigue with it being stainless steel i guess, the bracket was modified (i.e bent it) to it bolted up without being under tension, like it seemed it was before. Seems to be holding out ok a year later on.

Any more details on the steering box conversion? Sounds like a interesting option?

I'd love to see more pictures of the bus, got any of the engine in? ;) 8)

Cheers!

Alistair

Hi
Nice bus, how much is the servo upgrade costing you as it's certainly something I'd like done as drums all round

Why didn't I buy my bus years ago !?

It's difficult to give you an exact price because I had other work done on the same invoice. I mean the Brazilian servo itself is £78, but with all the other parts required and welding, fabricating a bracket, re-routing brake pipes, rewiring, install servo vacuum, vacuum pipe from engine and the rest, it was about 10 hours labour perhaps? You're talking around £600?

But speak to the guy himself and he'll ask you some questions and should be able to give you a ball-park figure.
