I’d cut back a little mor first then clean up inside and out. I’d then make a plate bigger than the hole then cut that in half to slip inside the hole and hold them there with magnets then tack, then fit a plate in the hole then tack, then turn up the heat a bit and weld right through but just a bit at a time, then your sure you’ve got a lot more steel then you started with.

Looks good. What shocks \ springs are those and have you still got the torsion leaves?
 
it’s on Red9 Design. lowered a bit. i bought them a looooooong time ago. Afraid the torsion bars are long gone.
