Welding gas no gas

Welding for a newbie, just about to invest in a welder obviously know the difference between dual or gas only welders, but no gas seems a lot easier for me on paper as I live 10 miles from Lands End and no gas suppliers nearby?
Are they worse than gas ones otherwise why would you use gas versions?

Definitely Mig with gas, more control for thinner metal, you can get disposable CO2 refills from halfrauds about £16.00 and they last a fair bit if you have no-one local i thought you could order them on-line?

Gas every time.

I use the disposable bottles, think I used approx. 2 full bottles on a full bug resto. I get the 600g (+60%) ones from Machine mart.

Unless you'll be welding every week, I'd not bother getting a full size bottle.

used a gasless welder with the correct wire on my bus! looked at gas one but i did an outdoor welder and was advised to use gasless as the gas would just blow away :lol:

Any how, gassless for me and as it was the first time i've ever welded i just learnt as i went on!

If your welding inside I would buy a gas one as gas less tend to splatter more, I buy my gas from Halfrauds just disconnect the gas bottle after you have finished as mine had a tendency to leak.

I agree with this.

Buy a gas one. You then have the choice to use gas for the tricky important bits or gasless for the outdoor jobs. It's best to have both options IMO.

With gas the welding is of often better quality - plus a gas one can weld alloy and stainless steel as well using argon gas or a mix and of course the relevant wire.

Gasless is fine, it did most of the welding on my bus.

Dual welders are a good option for home working. I always use to use gas less and it can be fine.

GAS ARGON mix used no gas as i have a dual welder but since using gas it's amazing the difference it make to the ease of use and finish
